Cycas circinalis
Cycas circinalis is a plant from the cycad family, found in Asia, mainly in India, it is an endangered species.
It reaches a height of about 4 meters.
The fir-green leaves grow to a length of 2.4 m. Young leaves are first twisted (like in ferns) before they reach full development. New leaves are light green and contrast with older, dark green leaves.
Male and female inflorescences grow separately. In late winter, female and male cones appear in the center of the plant. Pollen from the male plant pollinates the female inflorescence. Pollination causes a colorful show when large orange seeds begin to form in the center of the female plant.
