Coriandrum sativum

Coriandrum sativum is an annual plant belonging to the celery family.

It comes from the eastern Mediterranean region.

It reaches up to 70 cm in height.

It is a highly melliferous plant.

The leaves of coriander are quite diverse: the lower leaves are single, set on long petioles and serrated, the middle ones are doubly or triply pinnate, and the upper ones are multiply divided and stalkless.

Small flowers appear at the tops of the stems, gathered in umbels. They can be white or pink.

The fruit is a spherical, brown, ribbed, aromatic schizocarp.
