Cinnamomum camphora

Cinnamomum camphora is an aromatic tree belonging to the laurel family, native to Asia. It grows up to 3 meters high in our climate.

The plant has medicinal properties! Camphor oil has a calming and relaxing effect and has antibacterial and analgesic effects.

Flowers are yellow, very numerous, gathered in panicles. It begins to bloom at the turn of May and July.

Leaves are ovate or elliptical, shiny, dark green, intensely fragrant, up to 10 centimeters long.

Fruits are spherical drupes, black.

From the dried bark of the plant, we obtain the kitchen spice cinnamon.
Cinnamomum camphora requires permeable and moist soil. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny locations.
