Chaenomeles japonica

Chaenomeles japonica is a shrub, as its name suggests, originating from Japan. It grows to 1-2 meters in height.

The plant has medicinal properties! The fruits contain valuable organic acids, flavonoids, pectins, phenols and anthocyanins.

Single, red flowers, blooms very abundantly. It begins to bloom at the turn of March and May.

The plant is melliferous!

Edible, spherical, yellow fruits ripen only in autumn. They are suitable for making juices, tinctures, marmalades, preserves and jellies.

Small leaves up to 5 cm long, ovate, green.

The plant can be planted as a single accent against the background of a lawn or in a group, suitable for an unformed hedge!

Chaenomeles japonica has no special soil requirements. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny locations. It is resistant to frost and drought.
