Ceiba pentandra

Ceiba pentandra is a tree native to South, Central America and Mexico.

It grows to a height of 60-70 meters

Leaves are palmate, composed of 5 to 9 leaflets.

The flowers have 5 erect stamens and pink petals. The flowers are fully developed at night and emit a strong scent that attracts nocturnal animals.

The fruit is an ovoid capsule. An adult tree produces several hundred such capsules. The seeds in the capsule are surrounded by a downy, yellowish fiber made of lignin and cellulose.

The pentandra prefers a sunny position
