Catalpa bignonioides

Catalpa bignonioides is a tree from the United States. It grows to 10 meters in height, with a regular low crown.

Flowers white, purple-speckled, 5 cm in diameter, gathered in panicles of many flowers, it begins to bloom at the turn of June and July.

Leaves large, heart-shaped, up to 25 cm long.

Catalpa bignonioides is a melliferous plant. The oils it contains repel mosquitoes.

Fruits capsules, 20 to 40 cm long, remain on the tree throughout the winter until spring.

Prefers sunny locations. It grows better in fertile and permeable soil.
