Castanea sativa

Castanea sativa is a tree with a wide, dense, spherical crown, originating from the Mediterranean area. In our climate conditions it reaches about 20 meters in height. The plant has medicinal properties!

Yellow flowers, gathered in erect inflorescences, about 35 cm high. They bloom at the turn of May and June.

Leaves dark green, shiny, lacentolate, up to 25 cm long, turn yellow in autumn.

Edible fruit nuts, ripen at the turn of October and November. Chestnut fruit contains as much vitamin C as 100g of lemon. They are also a rich source of vitamins: B1, B2, E, malic acid, lecithin, magnesium, iron and potassium. They strengthen immunity and prevent infections, and thanks to the high content of unsaturated fatty acids, they are recommended for combating heart and circulatory diseases. The edible chestnut grows best in fertile, light, permeable and acidic soil. Prefers a sunny position, sheltered from the wind.
