Cassia fistula is a legume from the legume family. It comes from the Indian subcontinent. It is considered the national tree of Thailand and the state tree of Kerala in India.
It reaches up to 20 meters in height
Leaves 15-60 cm long, bipinnate, composed of 4-7 leaflets.
The fruit is a brown, non-decaying pod up to 60 cm long. Inside it is divided into chambers, each containing 1 seed.
The flowers are spectacular, yellow, fragrant, hanging in long clusters. They bloom in late spring
Cassia fistula prefers a sunny position.
