Caryota urens

Caryota urens  is a large palm from the Arecaceae family, found in India and Sri Lanka.

It reaches up to 20 meters in height

The leaves located at the top of the trunk are long – up to 4 meters, pinnate.

The inflorescence is broom-like, hanging. The flower is clustered in 3 pieces (1 female and 2 male).

The fruit is sour and stinging. It is a berry with 1-2 seeds in yellowish or reddish color.

The stinging caryota requires fertile and permeable soil with high humidity. It prefers semi-shady locations
