Butea monosperma

Butea monosperma is a species of tree from the legume family. It comes from India, Sri Lanka and Burma.

It reaches up to 15 meters in height

Green, trifoliate leaves with small stipules, more or less leathery, rounded leaves.

Beautiful, orange-red flowers appear before the leaves, resembling parrot beaks, they are pollinated by birds or palm squirrels.

The fruits are pods about 15–20 cm long
