Baringtonia acutangula

Baringtonia acutangula is a large evergreen tree, native to southern Asia and northern Australia.
It grows to a height of 13 metres
The leaves are thick, smooth and oval.
It is used in gastronomy and medicine
The fruit is oval and about 3 cm long, with 1 seed inside
The flowers are red, large and numerous, arranged in a hanging cluster about 20 cm long.
It grows best in fertile, moist, permeable soil, but tolerates shallow, saline and infertile soils.
It prefers a sunny or semi-sunny position.
