Asimina triloba
Asimina triloba is a small tree or large shrub with a wide, spherical crown, originating from North America. In our climate, it reaches about 3 meters in height.
The flowers are spectacular, bell-shaped, purple-brown, 5 cm in diameter, bloom at the turn of May and June.
The edible fruit is a berry, up to 15 cm long, very tasty, ripens in October.
The decorative, dark green, large leaves grow up to 30 cm long, turning yellow-orange in autumn.
The plant has medicinal properties. The fruits contain a lot of iron, calcium and vitamins. In turn, the leaves of this plant contain substances with anti-cancer and antiviral effects.
Asimina triloba requires moist, permeable soil. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny locations, it is frost-resistant.
