Araucaria araucana

Araucaria araucana is an evergreen, coniferous tree with an egg-shaped crown, originating from South America. In our climatic conditions, it reaches about 6 meters in height.

The fruit of Araucaria are cones. The seeds ripening in the cones are edible, tasty and nutritious. They are used to produce very expensive and exclusive oils.

The bark of the plant is horizontally striated.

Needles are dark green, shiny, very stiff, prickly, up to 4 cm long.
Araucaria araucana has no special soil requirements. It prefers sunny or semi-sunny positions, sheltered from the wind.
