Arachis hypogea

Arachis hypogea is an annual plant from Brazil.
It grows to between 50 and 70 cm in height
Pinnate leaves composed of two pairs of oval leaflets.
The fruits are pods with a fibrous cover, containing 1-4 seeds, so-called peanuts, which are a source of peanut oil.
Papilionaceous flowers, yellow. Only the lower ones produce seeds.
The flower stalk lengthens after it fades and directs itself downwards, pushing the pod into the ground.
It grows best in light, sandy-loamy soil. It prefers a sunny position sheltered from the wind.
