Taxodium mucronatum

 

Taxodium mucronatum is a tree with soft green needles belonging to the cypress family. It occurs in the wild in the colder regions of Mexico, Guatemala and the southern United States in Texas. The species is on the red list of endangered species.

It reaches about 30 m in height.

The needles have a durability of 1–3 years, reach a length of 1–2 cm. They are arranged spirally, curved at the base, arranged in two horizontal rows.

Male flowers gathered in long panicles, female flowers are single, sessile.
