Balanites roxburghii

Balanites roxburghii is a thorny evergreen tree. It is most common in dry tropical regions of Africa and Asia.

The fruit of the plant contains a high fat content and is therefore used to produce an oil called Dattier du Desert oil. It has a wide range of cosmetic uses, mainly in moisturizing creams, soaps, shampoos and lip balms. It is popular for its regenerative properties, helps to renew the skin and has anti-aging properties.

In the food industry, the fruit produces a sweet juice that is used to make drinks and liqueurs.
